Kasbah Meteorites came up when Ait Ouoch family decided to upgrade their previous hotel Bougafer in Alnif, and, knowing about the fossil and geologic importance of this region they decided to associate the rocky surrounding landscape with their hotel name. Working in the tourism industry for more than 20 years, Ait Ouoch family proposes you a great hotel in the middle of the rocky desert, on the gates of Sahara Desert. The primary idea of building this hotel far away from any town was to insure total tranquillity and to provide lodging and food to the many tourists travelling the southern road heading the desert. The road to Kasbah Meteorites follows the Marrakech – Merzouga route, passing in Ouarzazate, Agdz, Nkob, Tazzarine, Alnif, Rissani and finally Erg Chebbi Dunes. About the region
Geographically speaking, Alnif is located on the junction of 3 different Moroccan regions of Ouarzazate, Errachidia and Zagora and geologically belongs to the eastern Anti-Atlas Mountain Range. The region population were nomads from around Jabel Saghrou Mountain that chose to settle permanently in the many existing oasis since the 19th century. It was after the Battle of Bougafer in 1933 that the country witnessed the resistance of the people of the region, who fought fiercely against the European colonies. Since then its tribal law disappeared and was quickly replaced by constitutional law. Alnif is a reference area for geologists and archaeologists, to the particularity of its geological history. It is a very interesting place to scientists and adventure lovers as it provides the chance of quite a few pleasant excursions.
